Asan and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary this year last 13th November 2012. Honestly, it feels like it was just yesterday when we had our dream wedding! I remember all the preparations, logistics, invites; in short - getting everything to almost perfect was hard work.. am sure those who got married will surely agree with me. To those who is going to face it, congratulations and I do not envy you..haha...love the wedding but not the preparation part! Being ME, had to be so obsessive of doing everything myself (almost majorly but the family still had done alot too)...
Anyway, earlier in November this year - I had thought to myself that I wanted to do something to our master bedroom which wasn't such a master of its own anyway as the Chipmunks have been terrorizing our room; mainly the twins - since the day they learned to crawl. I used to have calmness and our room reflects it nicely back then. So, I had thought.... day by day, each item in our room was sent to the store room; I remember that every time I came home to work - one piece of furniture would be missing daily - one time, I remember one twin had used our standing lamp as a 'dancing pole!' 2 minutes later - off the lamp to the store room! ***SIGH***
It went on till I can only count the furniture in our bedroom to these: 1 bed, 1 tv table + TV, 1 cupboard and 1 drawer. Yes, that is all...no more and it could have gotten lesser..*cringe*
People who came over would always gush at how big our room is and how clean it was! Yeah - when you have nothing to collect dust in the first place, how can it be NOT clean? There is nothing else the maid can do except clean the room anyway. The room was used for race tracks, wrestling area or whatever activities the Chipmunks could think of.
I. had. enough!
Being a girl, you cannot NOT feel like you need to 'girl-effect' the room..so, that's what I did - and I think in a way, subconsciously; it was also a gift to Asan & Santy (Asanty) on their 7th year wedding anniversary...
When you first enter our room - you will see this area...
Had spent one whole afternoon doing this heart wall picture, love the final work!
Had a funny story on this standing lamp - when I had first bought it way back 5 years ago I think, my Hubs was so scared of it! It seriously looked like 'hantu bungkus' he said! He hated it last time, now - its back, guess he has no choice but to just leave it in the room! Haha...
Had spray painted the remote control holders, little box and the rattan basket - just because I want them to complement the overall purple look!
If you notice, I try not so much to have so much feminine touches for our bed. Respect his 'manhood' as well when you go out and buy bed sheets for the bed you share together.
Tips I have learned:
1. You do not have to put everything and anything you have into your bedroom. Main focus is the bed, work your way from there. There is such a place called store room for the rest!
2. Less is MORE!
3. It helps to be organised - meaning keep everything back to its place when you first got it!
4. When you absolutely need to clutter, clutter it in an organised manner; example is the rattan basket I keep under my side table? I put my creams, lotions, tissue and anything else inside that basket! Its messy but all in one place, neatly! haha...
